Privacy Notice
This notice describes what happens to information about you when you read Nytscol Finance or write to us. The short version: we collect very little, we do not sell or share it for marketing, and most of what exists never reaches us at all.
A static site without trackers
Each page you read here was generated ahead of time and is served as an ordinary file. We do not run analytics software, advertising networks, social media plugins, embedded videos that set their own cookies, or any other tool that follows you across visits or across the web. There are no user accounts, no comment forms and no newsletter sign-up, so there is nothing for you to register and nothing for us to store about your reading habits.
Your cookie choice
When you first arrive, a small bar asks whether you accept or decline cookies. Whatever you choose is saved in your own browser's local storage so the bar does not return on every page. The entry never leaves your device, and it holds no name, address or other identifier. Deleting this site's stored data in your browser wipes that answer whenever you like. The Cookie Switch goes into more depth.
What the servers delivering the weekly record
Like any website, this one is delivered by servers run by a hosting company. To deliver pages and protect the service against abuse, those servers automatically record technical details of each request: the IP address, the time, the page requested, the browser's user-agent string and whether the request succeeded. These logs are kept by the provider for a limited period for security and operational reasons and are then deleted. We do not combine them with other data or use them to build profiles of readers. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure and working site.
When you email us
If you write to desk@nytscol.org, we receive your email address, your name if you include it and whatever you put in the message. We use this only to read and answer you, and, where you point out an error, to correct the article concerned. We keep correspondence for as long as it is useful for that conversation and any follow-up, then delete it. Please do not send passwords, account numbers or identity documents; we never need them. We rely on your own request, and on our legitimate interest in answering it, as the legal ground.
Links to other websites
A few of our articles carry a link that leads off the weekly to somebody else's pages. After you click through, the privacy rules of that other site take over, and what it gathers is outside our control.
Your rights
Where the EU's GDPR or a comparable data law covers you, these rights are yours:
- ask whether we hold personal data about you and receive a copy of it;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have data deleted, or its use restricted, where the law allows;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- get the details you gave us in a common, machine-readable file;
- lodge a complaint with the privacy regulator of your home country or of the country where you work.
To use any of these rights, email the address above and tell us which emails or details your request concerns. We will answer within the period the law requires, usually one month.
Children
Nytscol Finance is aimed at grown-up readers, and we have no wish to hold details about anyone under the age of consent; nothing on the site is built to gather them.
Changes to this notice
If our practices change, for example if we ever add a new feature that handles personal data, this page will be updated before the change takes effect. Questions about anything here can go through the Reach Us page.
