Reach Us

Nytscol Finance has one inbox, and the three people who write the weekly read it themselves. The address is desk@nytscol.org. There is no phone line, office or contact form to fill in; a plain email is the simplest route for everyone.

Good reasons to email the desk

  • Corrections. A fact, a date or a step that is wrong. Those jump straight to the front of the queue.
  • Things that have changed. A browser menu that has been renamed, an app setting that has moved or a rule that has been revised since we wrote about it.
  • Topic ideas. A question from your working week, your household budget or your living room that you could not find a clear answer to.
  • Questions about the site. Privacy, cookies, reuse of an article or anything else about how we run things.

Help us help you

A few details make it much easier to answer quickly:

  1. Put the subject of your message in the subject line, for example "Correction: Chrome cache article".
  2. Include the address of the page you mean.
  3. Quote the sentence or step concerned and say what you think it should say.
  4. If you can, mention where you found the newer information, such as an official page or the app's own help section.

Our guide to writing a professional email people answer applies here too, although we promise to reply to imperfect emails as well.

What we cannot do

We are writers, not advisers. We cannot review your contract, recommend a particular loan or investment, judge a legal dispute or fix a specific device remotely. When a question needs someone who can look at your circumstances, we will say so and, where we can, point you towards the kind of professional or official body that could help.

Please leave passwords, card or account numbers and copies of identity documents out of your messages. No one on the team will ever request them.

When to expect an answer

Most messages get an answer inside a handful of working days. Corrections that could cost someone money or data are looked at first; other messages are answered in the order they arrive. If a message leads to a change in an article, we will tell you what changed.

Your email and your privacy

We use your address only to reply and keep the conversation only as long as it is useful. Our Privacy Notice sets out the specifics. To learn more about the people behind the weekly first, start with About Nytscol Finance.

This opens your email app with the message ready to send to desk@nytscol.org. Nothing is stored on this site.

About your message

Questions about writing to us

What to expect when a message reaches the desk.

When does the desk usually answer?

Most replies go out inside a working week. Reports of errors that could cost a reader money or data are read first.

Can you look at my contract or loan offer?

We cannot advise on individual documents or decisions. We can tell you which kind of professional or official body usually handles that question.

Will you tell me if my correction was used?

Yes. If your message leads to a change in an article, we reply with a note of what was updated.

Make it easy

Include these and we can answer faster

A complete message often gets a reply in a single round.

  • A subject line that names the article or topic
  • The full link to the article in question
  • The exact sentence or step you think is wrong
  • Where you saw the newer information, if you know
  • No passwords, account numbers or ID documents
